The Cronies Sports Bar and Grill has been trying to bring some new music acts to the stage, but there will be some familiar faces on stage. Tonight, the Los Angeles band Palmerston, playing a song from the 2008 NASCAR video game, will make the preliminary round, which begins at 6 p.m., along with a country-rock band with other musicians from the region. On October 2, Fusion Blue, who have previously performed for Grateful Dead, Metallica and the Foo Fighters, and a familiar face from St. Louis County will take the stage. The support bands for tonight's concert, which starts at 6 p.m., are all from the audience. Will be either a band from Colombia or a local band.

A youth fishing derby is held at the Sikeston recreational area on Lake Campanella. The annual Sikeston Music Festival in Malone Park, located at the 1912 Malone Park Band Stand, will take place on Saturday, October 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The indoor exhibit area contains a variety of historical artifacts from the city's history, from around 1880 to the mid-20th century, including a replica of the St. Louis County Courthouse and a collection of antique cars from around the country.

In the evening after the rodeo, nationally known country musicians provide the best musical entertainment. The parade will take place on Saturday, October 2nd, starting at Pine St. and ending in downtown Sikeston. Sikeston is home to Montgomery Bank, one of the largest private and family-run banks in Missouri. Branston Keefer, a co-owner, recently returned to the business and is working to maintain larger bands in Sikeston, MO, as well as other areas of St. Louis County. He says he's working to promote Sik Charleston as a place for bands to drop by and perform, not just for the music, but also for the food and entertainment.

The cotton hike takes place in early October and includes a bike ride at the end of the event on Legionsplatz. The show, "which is held in conjunction with the cotton walk, is also held on the first Saturday of the month in October on Legionsplatz. Sikeston is located north of the Missouri Bootheel, with many locals considering Sikeston part of it. The Missouri Daughters of the American Revolution erected a monument in honor of President John F. Kennedy in Sikeston, as part of an event to mark the 100th anniversary of his assassination in Washington, D.C. on July 4, 1917. Sik Charleston, a community theater group that has been running the Sikheston area for more than 50 years, started out as the American Legion in the mid-19th century - sponsored by the Cotton Carnival. It is also home to the Missouri State Fair, the largest music festival in Missouri and the second largest festival in the state.

The Boardman School (1912 - ca. 1925) was located in Sikeston until it was merged with Blodgett. Sikheston High School, the first public high school in Missouri, was originally located in the west of the city before it merged with Diehlstadt in 1922.

Claypool School (1910 - ca. 1921) was located in Sikeston until Blodgett took over in 1922. The Lemon School (1909 - ca. 1952) was originally located in the west of the city, in the southwest corner of the city, near the intersection of Main Street and Main Avenue.

Originally located in Sikeston until it was incorporated into Sik Charleston in 1946, the hotel was located at the intersection of Main Street and Main Avenue in the southwest of the city. It is currently located on the west side of St. Louis Street, near the corner of Main and Washington Streets.
